Shops Reopen after a 14-week closure
We are delighted to have opened our shops after a 14-week closure due to the Covid-19 shutdown.
The funds generated from selling donated items help Emmaus Glasgow to provide a home, meaningful work, daily support and training for people who have experienced homelessness or social exclusion. For every week shut, the charity is faced with a 35% income shortfall.
During the shutdown period, the team at Emmaus Glasgow sold items online, refurbished its Partick shop, and prepared each shop for reopening to ensure the safety of its customers.
Richard Allwood, Community Director at Emmaus Glasgow, said: “We are delighted to be reopening our shops and welcoming back our supporters. Our shops are a fantastic resource for anyone in need of quality affordable items and for people who want to shop responsibly, buy second-hand, and look after our environment.
We have followed advice from the Scottish Government and Charity Retail Association to put in measures to keep everyone safe. These include limiting the number of customers at any one time, strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines, signs throughout our shops and hand sanitiser stations at all entrances.”
Our shops stock a wide range of second-hand furniture, home appliances and electrical items. All proceeds raised from the sale of these items is then used to support the charity’s Hamiltonhill based community of 29 formerly homeless people.
The charity’s Partick shop is located on 580 Dumbarton Road, G11 6RH and the Hamiltonhill shop can be found at 101 Ellesmere Street, G22 5QT.
